The Ashcrafts are a third generation missionary family in the field of Central America.  We are located in the small city of Ciudad Vieja, about an hour and a half southwest of Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala where we completed a discipleship class and saw many people saved.
We want to thank you for visiting this site and showing an interest in our ministry.  Please continue reading to learn a little more about us and to discover how you can get involved in this exiting, brand new ministry.
April 23, 1979 I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and six weeks later I was on the mission field.  I grew up on a ranch 30 minutes outside of the desert town of Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico.   My dad ran La Fe Boys Home and was the director of Le Fe Ministries.  When I was fourteen, God called him to start La Fe Baptist Church.  It was in the early days of this church when my dad was preaching that I realized I had never been saved.  Although I had made professions of faith, I had never really repented of my sins and asked Jesus to come into my heart.  The next summer when I was fifteen, I felt God calling me to full time service and to preach, but I didn’t know exactly where He wanted me.  A few years later in the summer of 2001, there was a terrible earthquake in the country of El Salvador that left many homeless without food or water.  My dad loaded two buses full of donations and asked me to drive one to Central America.  The last thing my mother said to me before we left was, “Don’t you go down there and say God has called you to Central America!”
RHYAN
LAUREN
I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for my salvation and for all He’s done for me.  When I look back, I can see His guiding, gracious hand upon my life from its very beginning.  I was born and raised in the small town of Hampton, South Carolina by a very loving, Christian family for whom I am eternally grateful.  I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was five years old, and we’ve been the best of friends ever since.  My mother exposed me to music at a young age, and it has become one of my favorite ways to glorify my Savior.  I knew the Lord wanted me to be involved in the medical field and missions in a Spanish speaking country when I was in high school.  God gave me a love for people and the Spanish language, so I began taking Spanish classes and continued them in college.  My dream was to see people healed physically and spiritually.  It was during my junior year of college that I went on my first mission trip to Chihuahua, Mexico, where I met my future husband.  I graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken with my bachelor’s degree in nursing in December of 2007, and Rhyan and I were married the month following.  I worked for a year and a half as an RN at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital downtown gaining experience to carry to the mission field.  I’m excited to see all the things God is going to accomplish through our ministry in Central America!

MISSIONARY HERITAGE
My grandfather Dr. L.H. Ashcraft was called to Mexico in the 1960’s.  He packed up his family and went with a clear calling from God, his King James Bible, and his Spanish-English dictionary.  He began a work in Monterrey, Mexico called Mount Hebron.  He started a Bible Institute and boys’ home.  He saw over 140 churches started as a result of his ministry over the course of his lifetime.  Mount Hebron is still a strong ministry today with my uncle Tommy Ashcraft as the director.  I have aunts, uncles, and ten cousins in full time service around the world.  After working in
missions nearly all of his life, my dad retired, and my brother now directs the ministry.  Now I am a third generation missionary.  I’m so thankful that my grandfather heeded the call of the Lord.  Now Lauren and I have a clear calling from God, our King James Bible, and thanks to Popsy, we don’t need a Spanish-English dictionary.

I reassured her explaining that I had grown up in Mexico.  I knew the land, the people, the customs, and even the soccer teams.  It just wouldn’t make sense for God to do something like that.  After being in Central America for a few days, I fell in love with its people, culture, and food.  I remember looking down the mountain side in a valley with about 20 villages that no one had ever been to before.  My heart broke as I saw people living their lives without knowing that there was a Savior and what He had done for them.  I felt God calling me to these people in Central America, and I immediately surrendered to that call.  You can imagine the conversation I had with my mother on the phone when I told her that God had made a big mistake!  I graduated from La Fe Baptist Institute and immediately began raising support to go to Central America.  By this time my dad had retired, and my older brother Randy had taken over the boys home and La Fe Baptist Church.  He asked me to come back to Mexico to work with him during the summer groups.  It was during that summer working with my brother that I met Lauren.  It was easy to see that God had been working with both of us and was leading us in the same direction.  So naturally, I followed her home.  Just a quick 2,500 mile drive to South Carolina, and I asked her out.  We were married January 5, 2008 and went home to Central America on June 1, 2009.
